Thank you Mr.Kestenholz for the ansewer to my question re: installing steam baseboard heating on a 1 pipe system on 7/05/2001. I have decided to go the route you suggested with the water trap. I just have a few more questions. I was planning on using 3/4" threaded black iron pipe for the supplies and using 3/4" copper piping sodered together for the return. Can I use the copper piping, sodered together for the return..or should I use the threaded pipe for the water trap..and then go copper pipe? I'm guessing that the water trap you sugested will prevent any steam from pushing into the return line. Also, you suggested I use a 4" riser pipe with a vent on it...could I just use a adjustable vent at the end of the radiator..I'm concerned about how the 4" pipe is going to look sticking out of the end of the radiator. If there is another solution, it would be helpful.

Thank You
