Can I add to my steam system?

I live in an old 1937 house which has some steam and some forced hot air. The hot air is working very poorly
so I have been thinking of shuting down the air system and adding to the steam. (it's a 2 pipe system). The pipes at the radiators are 3/4 inch. For example, I was thinking of tapping into a radiator in a bathroom to bring the steam to an ajoining bedroom using cast iron baseboard. I was told that this would not work because the 3/4 inch pipe will not provied enough steam to heat both rooms. Is this true?
