Thanks all for your responses. The house is one zone. I don't know a lot about these things. I do know that my some was able to get the heat to come up slightly upstairs by continually bleeding the return side in the basement. However, the heat was slight and more on the side of the house where my father put the valve for bleeding you could hear the water slightly circulating but the other side of the house remain cold. Finally, it became too hot on the main floor and I turned the heat down, of course, again, no heat upstairs. So apparently if we bleed the return side in the basement, we will get new water upstairs. We are stumped, but we will keep trying and consider and welcome all advice. Thanks again, Cris
