Stay with the steel pipe. Soldered copper pipe has no 'play' to permit expansion and contraction at the fittings; so the tubing can 'work' to break fittings. The threaded pipe automatically permits movement and should be piped with expansion and swing joints. Steam condensate can be slightly acidic to corrode copper tubing.
