There are materials to do this job; but it seems almost sacreligious to put in new space-age materials. The only reasons for keeping a 70-year-old system is the historical and aesthetic respect for ancient objects. The system is in no way efficient. 1930 came before the oil systems of the 40's. If the boiler was updated, then the system is not the valued antique, it is just inefficient. Then the new materials, such as 1 or 2 parallel 1" pex lines might do the job, depending on the size of the boiler.
