Consider the question: If I build another house next door, will I need to put a boiler in it? The answer depends upon whether the new structure and the old structure can be heated by the one boiler. Is the boiler 'large' enough? The way to find this out is by doing an estimate of the amount of heat that will leave your home when it gets larger. Then you can compare the amount of heat you need to the amount of heat your existing boiler provides. You can do this for free on-line at

The answer for how many feet of baseboard to put in the new room is there also.
