As much as I love ssteam heat. I'd look hard at hot water, with short radiators or convectors under the windows to not waste wall space. I'd rip out the old wood baseboards and make new ones out of two 1x1 and a face of thin ply to hide my copper tubing and wires etc in. Steam piping is large and limited. You will have to run it inside rooms or open walls and the horizontal runouts will limit placements. There is a lot of help on-line, search for it and go to boiler company websites. Burnham.com and Weil-Mclain.com have a lot.
