Blowdown a half gallon a day for a few days, let it cool and pour it slowly into a drain to not stir it up. The last part dump outside, checking to see how much crud you have. Blowdown often enough to keep it low. With air inside the system you will get more than a HW system, You should be fine if you blowdown routinely. You could put a strainer in the outlet line.
