Outside Wood vs Coal Fired Boiler

I have just finished installing propane fired baseboard hot water with 4 heating zones and a domestic hot water zone. Outside wood boilers are big in our area (Western NY)and I have considered an Aquatherm brand boiler as a more efficient alternative for the long term. However lately I began to wonder if a coal boiler located in an outbuilding might make more sense. I don't know the relative cost/BTU factors between wood and coal but perhaps slightly more expensive coal would be better because of reduced hassle. I can buy an 18 cord load of logs for $500.00 but I need to cut and split it and in Sept. I can do a propane spotbuy of 2500 gals for $ .70/gal. Does anyone make an efficient coal fired closed system that I could hook into my new system?
