If you want boiler room technician's bitterness, I'll give it to you. Quote some sources (links?)of these paybacks including any gov't handouts that might have made it 'cost-effective'. There are lot of things that I would put in my house that I would not recommend to someone that has to find reasonable service in a few yrs. How many geothermal systems are in your city/township do you think? And you might be surprised at just how much thermodynamics/heat transfer/fluid mechanics etc some of these "techies" might have besides 20 yrs hands on. And yes, if you are on a municipal electric rate of $0.025/kWh you can do what you want. But I'd sooner waste my money on other frivolities.
