I have a similar problem with a cold radiator. It is on the first floor of a 2 floor house. It is a 2-pipe system, I think (one pipe in each side). I have used the key type air bleeder at the top to let the air out, and I do get a steady stream of water flowing from the bleeder valve, but it is stone cold. The control valve at the base appears to do nothing...it feels striped, continuing to turn and turn. I assumed that the valve was stuck closed (the previous owners said they kept it turned off all the time), but I am confused as to how I can get a steady stream of water from the bleeder valve if the control valve is prohibiting hot water to flow to the radiator?
Any idea what may be the culprit? If it is the control valve, is this a simple replacement?
Any assistance would be most accreciated. I really love my radiator heat, and would hate to ever lose it. Thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to offer a suggestion.
