I'd look at replacing the service company first. You could buy the most poorly built boiler on the market and easily get ten years out of it in a dry basement. Discounting running it dry etc, just like a car's oil. They probably don't look any further than the blr/brnr like many. I would almost bet a nickle from here that you have a plugged chimney (10 yrs only - got squirrels/birds?) or bad barometric damper. Both things you can check yourself. You might have a nasty oil supply. Are you burning from an outdoor, very cold tank? Does your chimney stick out of the roof 2' over everything within 10' and no big walls etc just past that old rule? If one story, chimney should be extra maybe. With a new burner if set up right with good oil and a decent chimney shouldn't exhaust into the bldg, except maybe a little problem with a cold chimney at the very start. Night setback doesn't help there. Watch the light off, is it smooth or a delay and slight pop etc.
