Installing a radiator

I have a low pressure one pipe steam system circa 1927. I have a n. gas Smith boiler installed in the 1970s.

I am trying to install a radiator from another house in the neighborhood (a freebie). Our system is fed by pipes with about 1.5" O.D.. The new radiator has a working valve with a 1.75" O.D. pipe.

Estimate to install was $1017. Yikes!

I want to cut off old valve; re-thread old pipe; use reducer to adapt small old pipe to large new pipe with new valve; install new radiator. Is this crazy or is it simple pipe fitting?

Where can I get large diameter pipes?

Are the cheap manual pipe threading kits from NorthernTool.com (p/n 150498) sufficient for this job?

Where can I find a source for valves and vents.

Thanks for any help that you can give.
Mike
