Turn down the pressure, the bouncing is not good. You want dry steam. Skimming the top is not easy. the relief valve can be replaced with piping going over and down into a bucket if there is no other fitting to skim from. The boiler is fired just enough to keep it boiling and water level raised until it flows out of the pipe for a while.
