After refill

I have been draining sediment from my steam boiler every
two weeks. Since I am draining water from several
places (from the bottom of the boiler, under the
Low Water Cutoff Switch, etc.), I have to add water to
a system to maintain the 2/3 of glass level.

Immediately after adding water, as was recommended on
this BB, I turn boiler on to get rid of gases in a
water that may cause corrosion of the boiler.

Yesterday, in a Home Depot, a sales associate told me
that I also need to add "Boiler Calmer" to make sure
that there is no surging of new water.

Do I need to add anything to a water after I refill
the boiler?

Thank you.
