I was trouble shooting a heatpump and found very low on freon(R-22). I proceeded to recharge unit to proper level, but system would not hold charge. I called a friend on mine in the field and he told me heat the can of freon with hot water and then try to introduce charge in system. And it work! Can someone explain how is this possible? What happens to the refrigerant when it's heated in the freon can?
