A 3 element feedwater regulator operates on 3 parameters, boiler water level, steam flow and feedwater flow. It is controled by computing or averaging relays (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or any combination) receiving input from the 3 parameters, to control the final position of the feedwater regulating valve which controls the flow of feedwater to the boiler.
