: Bryan Steam has long printed a brochure that has a Boiler Longevitiy Chart showing Watertube at 40 years, Cast Iron at 35 years and Firetube at 25 years. They reference no study or report for these claims. Does anyone know of an ABMA, ASME, ASHRAE or other study on the comparative longevity of these three boiler type?

I don't know of any studies but I've worked on a cast iron boiler that is 103 this year, I've also seen lots of firetube boilers that were built in the 1950's, Boiler longevity comes down to how well you look after it.
