: I am the House manager of a 10,500 square foot Fraternity house in New York and our Weil-McLain LGB-8 910,000 BTU/hr boiler has a small drip coming from a rusty spot in between two sections of the cast iron. One heating guy told us it needs to be replaced, and another said boiler solder should do the job. Since it is rust, I am guessing that is only going to get worse, and eventually flood the basement. What are my options with regards to repair and replacement?

Weil McLean sectional boilers can be taken apart and the gaskets or the nipples can be replaced. Depending on the age of the unit, and the effiency of the unit a determination can be made. Factor all costs for repairs verses replacement. You may get of very cheap with a new gasketing.
