Steam is actually very gentle on steel pipe, I have witnessed 30+ years old steam lines and the pipe thickness & condition of the pipes on the inside looked just like new.

As long as it is installed properly i.e. lines are pitched to drain and trapped appropriately to get rid of the condensate, steel steam lines will remain in good condition (corrosion free).

If you really do want to use copper lines, use type K copper pipe using brazing (sylphos or silver solder) to make joints.
