I'm cleaning out a steam boiler that has been sorely neglected the last few years. (Last season the sight glass never cleared up) I,m thinking of boiling it out with tsp, to get some of the silt off the surfaces I can't get to. Its a cast Iron sectional, and the only cleanout access is the few holes the gauges and what not mount to, and the bottom blowdown hole. This is the only way I've heard of to clean it,Any advice? How would you drain the boiler after a TSP bath, let it cool first? Flush it and fill it again to keep from bakeing silt left, onto the surfaces?
