We have a Murray-Trane, and use it as our primary boiler durning production. Because of the ever increasing cost of natural gas, we would like to burn as much #6 fuel oil in it as possible. Question is, can we burn #6 durning non-production days without fouling up our economizer? The load would be little more than idle. Would there be any safety related issues? It is my understanding that when burning #6 fuel oil, the boiler feedwater in DA tank should be heated to at least 240 degrees F.to avoid fire-side condensation on the economizer. Is that assumption correct? Any info would be appreciated...
