: you did not specify at what pressure the boilers operate, but there are various types of packings and gaskets as well as types of gauge glass assemblies available. some gaskets that seem to hold up very well up to around 250 psi are the new teflon gaskets. the ones i use are sold with redline gauge glasses.there are also some epdm gaskets that are good for up to 150 psi. another problem i have seen is the absence of a vacuum breaker. if you shut down the units regularly, you may need to install a vacuum breaker so that the cooling of the water inside the unit does not pull air in around the gauge glass and handhole gaskets. hope this helps.
