: : I have a question about determining boiler efficiency. Everyone knows that the actual efficiency of a boiler (or anything for that matter)is the quotient of the input and output. In order for the efficiency to be correct, the input and output units must be the same. I am trying to determine the efficiency for a gas boiler in units of BTUs. The input units are a function of fuel flow (natural gas) and enthalpy. The output units are a function of steam flow and enthalpy. Is there somthing I am missing here? Whenever I go to plug-n-chug the numbers, I get an efficiency of over 100%. Either I have a conversion incorrect or my approach is incorrect. If anyone has any knowledge of calculationg boiler efficiency, please feel free to drop me an email. Thanks.
