: : : Can anyone tell me the proper elevation of the low water cutoff casting mark on a CB model 500HP boiler. From the skid bottom to the casting mark is what Im looking for. Thanks.
: : That dimension has nothing to do with the proper setting of the low water cutoff. The LWCO should be set to acutate at some point where the water level is still showing in the gauge glass and the water level is still above the top row of tubes.
: ::Thanks for your reply but if the level control is set to maintain the level too far above the top row of tubes (too close to the steam nozzle) it can cause carryover. I am trying to find out within some tolerance what the setpoint is based on shell size of the boiler and the position of the top row of tubes. It will be somewhat uniform for all CB boilers of this HP and shell size. Thanks again.
Open it up and measure from the top row of tubes.
