In NJ, you would have to be already employed by a company that has a boiler room/power house on site. then you would request to train as a boiler operator full time and after six months apply for your black seal in charge boiler license. This is a hands on training by license boiler operators already employed by that company. that is assuming your current section supervisor will recommend you as a trainee. there was a time many years ago that if you new someone in the industry you could get sit in time/training to get the needed hours to qualify for the boiler exam. Other then that I believe you just might be out of luck in ever getting into the boiler operation field.
