If you have carbon (soot) buildup on the morrison tube (which is not good), it may glow during firing and afterwards for some duration. The actual metal of your boiler should NEVER glow. If it were to do so, it would suggest that you have no water circulation on the backside of the metal and is a very dangerous situation.

I would have a service person look at the unit as soon as possible.
