I thought it was code in a multi-boiler system to have what is known as a stop-check valve on each boiler. This is the first valve on the steam side of the boiler and has a handwheel like a gate and a check valve internal. Only a few manufacturers make these, one is CRANE either the figure 28 for straight or 30 for angle. Look at the following for a catalogue: http://www.cranevalve.com/books.htm
