: I just had a 20yro (WM) boiler replaced with a new WM Gold (144kBTUs) and I think it may be over-sized or just over-fired. Heat/Steam come up very qiuckly, and the 3rd fl. seems to heat well. Trouble is, the boiler short-cycles do to steam pressure. Pressuretrol is set at .5psig with a diff. of 1.5 - this is the only way I've been able to heat the space while minimizing cycling. The pressure climbs to 3.5-4psig and cuts-out within about 15-20mins. When the pressure drops back down below .5psig, the burner starts again, etc. It will cycle 2-3 times per heating period. The mains seem to be properly vented and the radiators have new variable vents. Could this new, higher-efficiency boiler be producing too much steam for the heating load? Can this be corrected via a smaller nozzle - down-firing?
