No, you cannot build your own economizer for all the points stated by Boiler Guy. I could design an economizer for you but you would then have to take to still go through all the steps stated by Boiler Guy. So, just cut to the chase and contact any of the several reputable economizer manufacturers (some have sizing programs on their websites) give them your operating parameters and they will quote you pricing on their units. No point in re-inventing the wheel.
