We have an economizer fitted on our boiler. Now, we notice that the flue gas directly into the economizer is at 230 degrees celcius. Flue gas temperature upon leaving the economizer is at 160 degrees celcius.
The incoming water to the economizer is at 130 degrees celcius and exits economizer at 150 degrees celcius.
My question is why is the water absorbing only a mere 29% of heat released from the flue gas?
Why isn't the economizer heat exchanging more, taking into account of external fouling of economizer tubes and internal tube scale, I believe at least 70% of heat must be exchanged.
Is this so, or is there something amiss.
