: we have 20 ton/hr steam generation capacity fire tube boiler with 13 bar stem pressure. last day there was hammering in feed water line. the operator says this hammering was due to the excessive opening of automatic feed water regulator control valve because the automatic level controller is malfunctioning.
: my question is , is our operator is right ? if he is right then how we can explain his reasoning?
: can there be any other reasons of hammering in feed water line?
: thanks and regards for comments.....

What type controller are you using? ie: float, thermostatic, thermohydraulic.
Knowing this will help to narrow it down if it is a controller problem.
