: Has anyone encountered constant seal failure in a H.B Smith sectional.

If it is 28 Series boiler use for hot water heating yes. Smith has 3 different seal in the last 6 years. It maybe the cast iron section crack too. I have had to replace section several time. Smith rep comes up with a different reason each time. So we make the changes and in a year or two more cracks. A cast iron boiler shoud have a 30 year life with good maintenace. I have 6 28A series boilers in 3 different bildings installed from 1989 to 2000 firing from size 5gph to 19.6 #2 oil all have had bad sections. Smith will sell you a new sections at cost but you pay the labor to install. The last time I changed the boiler to Weil-mclain and have had no problems.I will not let a 28A series boiler be installed in any of are billdings.
