There's a bunch of different "standards", but for general purposes, use ASME/ANSI A13.1, which is the National Standard referenced under OSHA 1910. Other standards include: ANSI Z53.1 (maybe 23.1?) and MIL-STD-101C. There are a couple of paint companies that will provide a color chart based on ASNI A13.1. Do a google using "color code" and piping.
