credentials: 22 years of repairing steam leaks on line. I have repaired leaks at 5500 PSI on a live system.
I use a broom handle to locate steam leaks when they can'nt be seen. I have held a broom handle on 3000 PSI 1000*F steam leaks, it did not cut it in half but it did burst into flames. I just repaired a 12" 600 PSI 700*F flange leak at a power plant, one of the operators put a 4'x 8' sheet of plywood in front of it so the steam would not blow out onto a catwalk, (NICE LITTLE FIRE) Not a good idea !
