Roots make steam compressors. I know of two that have been in operation for about 10 years.
: I apologize for this being off the strict boiler topic, but I'm hoping our problem is similar enough that someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
: We're attempting to build a prototype for an R&D project which requires the compression of steam from 140 C/15 psia to 60 psia. For this prototype system, the flow rate is very low - only 10 acfm - though we could conceivably increase this to 100 acfm or higher if necessary.
: The compressor manufacturers I have contacted so far either 1) don't work with steam, 2) don't build systems for this low of a flow rate, or 3) can't handle the high temperatures involved.
: Could anyone point me to a manufacturer who might deal with this type of problem? (As a side note, high efficiency is critical - but at this point I'd just about settle for anything that will work.)
