: why does there always seem to be a gap between boiler pressure and line pressure?
: what negative results would there be if a boiler plant set it's boilers at 100 psi and it's
: line pressure at 100. we currently run at 100psi and send steam to the line at 60psi, an
: engineer wants me to have both at 100.I have over two miles of steam line to keep pressured.

Your lines are way under sized, causing hugh pressure drops.Normal would be a 5psi diff ie if boiler was at 100 psi you should have at least 95 psi in the plant.Replace your main stm header and use a sizing guide using flow rates
