Is this a round gauge glass? If it is, the first thing I'd check is the washers you're using. The ones you've got are probably for low pressure steam, or more likely, an expansion tank gauge glass for a hot water system. Make sure you've got the proprer ones, and are rated for the service they're in. If you ask whoever's supplying them about what temperature your current washers are good for, and he says "Huh?", you're talking to the wrong guy.
