: : What are steps to determine root cause of tube failure in a once through water tube boiler? Can metallurgical analysis provide useful answers? Can swelling/blistering of tubes be caused by impact of steam from nearby leaking tube or is it from problems prior to leak event?

: Swelling/blistering are two completely different problems. Swelling usually occurs due to overheating and deforming under pressure. Blistering usually occurs because the metal delaminates and is usually due to poor metal qualities.

: A leaky tube shouldn't cause nearby tubes to swell or blister.
