If you can get hold of a copy of the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code, it'll answer a lot of your questions. There's a specific section on "Near Boiler Piping" that covers feedwater, blowdown, and steam piping, and fitting & valve requirements.
Remember that when ASME says "design" pressure, they're referring to where the safety or relief valves lift, not the operating pressure.
