You definitely have to review your procedures on switching fuels. Some burners are designed with the ability to switch from one fuel to another without purging, however, it generally involves bring the burner to minimum fire prior to switching over.
A lot of things can go wrong if the controls are not designed with proper interlocks and permissives to prevent putting too much fuel into the unit during a switch.
