Our contractor is replacing an old Weil McLain series 76 boiler with forced draft gas burner for our 6000 sf house -- it is rated at about 750,000 btu. We would prefer an atomospheric type instead. Based on radiator square footage, we only need about 500,000 btu, or an IBR rating of 316. Weil McLain makes two kinds of atmospheric boilers, series LGB and EGH, both available in that size. Is anyone familiar with the differences between the two series and why one is used over the other?
