: i need to know if a uv flame detector is better than a infra red detector because with the uv sensor i keep having to replace them every 2 to 3 months i get 5.0 readings when new then it starts getting lower readings to the extent of shutting the boiler down on flame failure im keeping the tube clean and the eye clean also thanks

being that you said you fire #2 fuel you should use a ir scanner and second of all ir scanners dont last that unlike ir can last up to 20 years atleast on my installations and third of all check the lines out are they running in a seperate cable or pipe or their own bx it maybe picking up something and thats distoring the signal and last of all
throw that peice of junk out and get a fireye control you wont have all theese problems
