We have 3-500 hp CB firetube steam boilers. We normally steam 1 except for Dec-Feb. The idle boilers boost from 98-124 psi every 5 hours.
Would it make sense to put the idle boilers under a steam blanket from the online boiler, and steam
down the water level in the idle boilers daily.
Is this a worth while energy and wear and tear saver?
How long would it take for the water level to rise
6" in this boiler. Normal operating Pressure is
90 psi.
We have minimized cooldown of idle boilers by installing tight sealing stack damper control.
