It depends on the application. Inverted bucket traps have a water seal. This rules them out on any system with a vacuum return. Lots of people just hate thermodynamic traps because they "pass live steam" and/or wear out quickly. The biggest problem is that they're usually GROSSLY oversized. Size them correctly, and they'll last for years. On the other hand, they don't pass air very well, so they're not the ones to pick for systems that cycle on and off all the time.
