In many jurisdictions boiler acts and / or regulations will call for boilers not under continuous supervision to haves two low water cut off, which one must be independent of any other controls. That is both will cut the boiler fuel supply off but only one can work in conjunction with an Alarm or Pump but there is nothing that will prohibit having a 3rd independent alarm to warn of problems such as lower than normal water level or feed pump pressure.

: What is the normal operation for low water controls on a 35,000 lb/hr automatic (non-recycling) steam boiler? Should the first low water cut-out shut down the boiler or just sound an alarm?
