I recently took over a 150 psi, 700 hp Cleaver Brooks Boiler. When I started sampling, things were a mess. We utilize Optisperse solutions to maintain phosphates and sulfites. After sampling and blowing down uncountable times for over a week I finally got everything into limits. What confuses me is that with my phosphates in mid-range and even with my sulfites low and alkalinity in range, I still have unbelievably high conductivity. We utilize a timed automatic blowdown controller and the setpoint on it is set at 2400 uhmos/cm and it only stops blowdown long enough to sample and it hasn't stopped blowing at all since I began babysitting the thing. What could keep my conductivity so high?
