So, that's why my GF grandfather said ir was a bad idea to close that valve completely. He's 89 and must remember somthing from way back.
So. there is a cold water intake water supply line and a hot water exit supply line. Basically just disconnect these and cap them? Should the water be dreained from the tank to avoid something going boom when the fire is on and the steam has nowhere to go? And if drained, will anything crack when the boiler does fire up? Or does the cold water feed to the boiler keep the water jacket full? Low limit control? I'll look for it. I don't suppose it will just be something that looks like a thermostat? Probably and old rusty valve? I had one of these relics when I purchased my house 20 years ago. 19 years ago I replace it with a modern boiler. Man did my heating bill go down!
