If I interpret correctly, you are saying that steam is obsolete in residential applications. It will be impossible to find a "modern" boiler and difficult to find an installer.

So you'd suggest converting to a hot water system?

Can the old radiators still be used? In some rooms, they are pretty integral to the architecture. I realize they would be less efficient.

And I think you were suggesting just leaving the old steam piping in place?
