How far should this little knob/vavle be open? it is connected right to the pipeing, So if my ciurlator goes bad I can open or close this to heat my houes intill I can get the new circulator on? thanks

: Flow control has a weighted disk to prevent flow while you make hot water in the summer. Turning the handle lifts the disk (normally done by pump pressure) during power outages. Hopefully the system is laid out with size and pitch for good flow.
